Ensemble We focus on musical expression, practice skills, and technical excellence in an environment that promotes discipline and mindfulness of body and spirit.

Capital Strings and Voices Collective hosts intergenerational ensembles including: The Capital Strings Collective Orchestra (CSC), Jr. Orchestra (JCSC), I Cellisti cello ensembles, and the Capital Voices Collective choir.

We welcome music lovers of varying ages and abilities who play violin, viola, cello or bass. No auditions are required: orchestra members should play at a minimum RCM Grade 5 or Suzuki Book 4 level; jr. orchestra members in Suzuki 1 (late) – Book 3 are welcome.
"Dr. Joan has a gift for teaching." - Parent of fourth year cello student

"CSC taught me to play better than I ever thought I could." - Third year violonist

"CSVC is unique! We learn more than just notes... everyone is encouraged to express their voice in their playing and in discussions about best ways to practice, learn theory, improve sight-reading, and consider links between music and life." - Professional musician and CSVC mentor
